The Perth Stadium is 82 per cent complete and on track to open in time for the start of the 2018 AFL season.
Exciting news for all cricket fans out there is that the five drop-in cricket wickets, which have been grown and maintained at Gloucester Park over the past 18 months, have now been delivered to the Stadium. The December Ashes Test, taking place from December 14 to 18, 2017 will however be played at the WACA Ground in East Perth.
The lifting and transfer process of the drop-in cricket wickets took approximately 20 hours in total and the 25 metres long wickets are now located in the cricket nursery on the northern side of the Stadium. Check out the video here.
Other big sport events scheduled for Perth Stadium include:
Chelsea FC vs Perth Glory. The Premier League powerhouse Chelsea Football Club will take on local Perth team Perth Glory in July or August 2018.
Bledisloe Cup. In August 2019 the Australian Wallabies and New Zealand All Blacks teams will play on Western Australian soil in the lead-up to the Rugby World Cup.
Rugby League State of Origin. In Australia’s biggest annual sporting event during 2019, the New South Wales Blues and Queensland Maroons will meet in a fiercely contested game expected to attract thousands of visitors.
