The European office has actively participated in two major energy events in Europe to showcase that Australia is a global energy powerhouse, a sought after destination for investment and the leading source of research and development.
ONS: 27-30 August, Stavanger, NORWAY
The European office had a Western Australia branded stand at the 2018 Offshore North Seas (ONS) conference and exhibition in Stavanger, Norway. ONS is the world’s second largest energy event and attracted 68 174 people from 98 countries between 27 and 30 August.
Our Western Australian stand was shared with Curtin University, University of Aberdeen, AMC Management, ECLIPS Engineering, City of Perth, Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference (AOG) and the WA government departments JTSI and DMIRS.
Agent General Mike Deeks represented WA Premier Mark McGowan as he addressed the Australia Session at the ONS conference. A few stakeholders of the Premier’s recently announced LNG Jobs Taskforce attended the conference on a mission, including APPEA's CEO Stedman Ellis.
The purpose of the mission was to engage with Norwegian and international representatives at the event, to obtain learnings that might inform the work of the LNG Jobs Taskforce.

Gastech: 17-20 September, Barcelona, SPAIN
Our European office supported NERA’s Australian Pavilion at this year’s Gastech in Barcelona in Spain, an exhibition which attracted more than 30,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors in the energy sector from all over the world.
NERA stands for National Energy Resources Australia, and is the Australian Government’s Growth Centre for the oil, gas and energy resources sector. For the first time in the event’s 45-year history, NERA brought Australian innovation under the one umbrella to showcase the best of Down Under.
By early 2019, when all LNG projects under construction in Australia commence, the total national LNG production capacity will reach 88 million tonnes per annum, meaning the country is likely to surpass Qatar as the largest LNG exporter in the world.
With Western Australia set to become the largest provincial LNG producer in the world, Agent General Mike Deeks addressed a global audience to highlight Australia’s capability in oil and gas technology.
Other speakers included Australian Ambassador to Spain HE Julie-Ann Guivarra, Shell Vice President for QGC Tony Nunan, NERA’s Non-Executive Director Pia Turcinov, and Deloitte partner Bernadette Cullinane.
Multiple Australian innovative companies participated in the Australian Pavilion stand – 10 businesses out of these attended under ‘The Smart Australia: Take Local Global’-program – AiSpanner, BE&R Consulting, Deloitte, Australasian Oil and Gas Exhibition & Conference 2019, Future Fuels CRC, LNG Marine Fuel Institute, LogiCamms, MyPass Global, Nureka, Penny Australia, Previso Software, RedEye Apps, Sentient Computing, Synengco Pty Ltd, and XDR.
