It’s big, beautiful and billions of years old. Western Australia (WA) is around the size of Western Europe and accounts for one third of the Australian continent.
Perth is the capital city of WA. Recently Perth was crowned by both Conde Nast and National Geographic as the must-visit city in the world in 2019. We’re not surprised. Escaping Brexit aside, - here are five reasons why the Brits should make their way to WA.
#Qantas Direct Flight London-Perth
The Qantas daily direct flight between London and Perth which commenced in March this year has proven to be a huge success. The fastest flight from Perth to London was 16 hours and 23 minutes on 20th July. Basically you can go to sleep in Perth and wake up in London. Too easy!
#Perth’s Room Boom
Perth is currently experiencing a room-boom making it the most affordable city in Australia for hotel rooms. Since 2012, 31 new or redeveloped hotels have opened in and around Perth adding 3,100 new rooms to the local market with names such as QT, COMO The Treasury, Crown Towers, Alex Hotel, Aloft and Tribe among the mix.
By mid-2019, The Ritz-Carlton will open its only Australian hotel at Elizabeth Quay which will feature over 200 luxury suites and sweeping views over the Swan River and Kings Park.
#Rottnest Island’s new eco retreat
In March 2019 a new eco retreat will open at Perth locals’ favourite getaway destination Rottnest Island. The Discovery Eco Village Rottnest Island will comprise 83 high quality eco-tents with ensuite pods, connected via elevated walkways to the Pinky’s Beach Club dining area.
#Manchester United to Paint Perth Red
For the first time in more than 40 years, one of the most successful and famous football clubs in the world will head to Perth in July 2019 to play two matches at the new award winning Optus Stadium. Manchester United will bring their entire squad to WA and play the first match against the current A-league ladder leaders Perth Glory on Saturday 13th of July.
Building on the acclaimed food festival the Margaret River Gourmet Escape, the Gourmet Escape festival in November in 2019 will be extended to ten days and held across three locations including Perth. The food festival is known to bring the world’s leading chefs, like Nigella Lawson and Rick Stein, together with Australia’s best home-grown talent to celebrate WA’s restaurants, cellar doors, artisanal producers and spectacular natural scenery.
