Western Australia accounts for 25 per cent of the total premium wine produced in Australia and has a wide range of proud and passionate producers, responsible for a significant share of the nation’s award winning premium and super premium wines.

A core of family-owned, boutique producers

With a truly Mediterranean type climate characterized by mild to warm dry summers, consistent temperatures, and cool wet winters ensuring reliable water supplies, Western Australia’s vineyards cover a vast area, in a range of climatic conditions that encompass almost all the growing regions of the Old World.

The WA industry stems from a dedicated core of small, family-owned boutique producers who meticulously craft their wines from carefully tended vineyards which produce the best grapes possible.

Thanks to the wine industry, millions of dollars have been channelled into rural WA, creating numerous job opportunities in complementary sectors such as tourism, fine dining, hospitality and entertainment.

There are nine wine regions in WA, each producing their own unique style, namely Swan Districts, Perth Hills, Peel, Central WA, Geographe, Margaret River, Blackwood Valley, Southern Forests and Great Southern.
