In a step to deepen ties between Western Australia and Germany, Agent General Angela Kelly visited Germany in December 2024. The visit highlighted opportunities for collaboration in priority sectors including healthcare and biotechnology, with the Agent General bringing her decades of experience in the health sector to meetings with major pharmaceutical companies, including BioNTech, and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI). These engagements underscored the potential for strengthening partnerships that support innovation and trade between Western Australia and Germany. Regional collaborators such as FrankfurtRheinMain also reaffirmed their commitment to assisting Western Australian businesses seeking to establish a presence in the region.

A key focus of the visit was strengthening collaborations between Australian and German institutions, with the “Team Australia” approach playing a central role. Collaboration with the Australian Embassy in Berlin, federal trade and investment promotion agency Austrade, and other Australian state representatives based in Germany highlighted the utility of and need for united efforts to create opportunities for Australian businesses in competitive European markets.

Angela’s visit was a pivotal step in raising Western Australia’s profile in Germany and the broader European region, laying the foundation for future collaboration, and serving to enhance economic and commercial relationships with one of the world’s most influential economies.
