London office participates in ONS 2024
50th Anniversary of the premier European Energy Transition event in Stavanger, Norway.
Europe’s premier Energy Transition showcase, ONS 2024 took place from 26-29 August in Stavanger Norway and it was a bumper year as the event was celebrating it’s 50th anniversary.
The ONS Conference is a world leading venue for discussions on energy, technology and innovation and this year 72 676 people from all over the world took part, including representatives of over 1100 companies from 35 countries.
Western Australia was the only Australian state represented at this event, providing our industry delegation with exclusive access to some of the most important companies and decision makers in Europe.
Agent-General John Langoulant led the London team participation and hosted the participation in the event by Rebecca Brown PSM, Director General of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) and Her Excellency, Kerin Ayyalaraju, Australian Ambassador accredited to Denmark, Norway and Iceland.
Our partner in delivering this event was the Centre of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) and Dr Francis Norman, CEO and Danielle Gaynor delivered a world class stand and did a Stirling job supporting the participating of a strong WA industry delegation across Energy and Decommissioning including Alcoa, Chevron, Liberty Industrial, Pivotree and Woodside.
CODA, Woodside and Chevron represented WA in the Industry Country Briefing – Oil & Gas Australia, Malaysia India & Vietnam at the main conference, a session that was very well received by all who attended.
One interesting aspect of the traffic to our stand was that 4 of the 6 firm inward investment project leads that came out of ONS were not from Norway, but from Aberdeen! This demonstrates the strong 3 way link between Aberdeen, Perth and Stavanger in the Energy Transition. This was further confirmed during Rebecca’s participation in a Scottish-Norwegian networking event that yielded a Scottish wave energy investor.
The Industry delegation also participated in a number of side visits, arranged to maximise the exposure of WA companies to potential partners in Norway as well as to exchange experiences and view technology from counterparts in this country.
Site visits included the NORCE Ulrigg Facility and GraPA (Go Radical P&A) site as well as the AF Environmental Base Vats decommissioning yard.
Follow up will take place at the upcoming Aberdeen-Perth Gateway event in Aberdeen on 28 January 2025 and this event in turn will drive attendance to Energy Exchange Australia in Perth – 11-13 March 2025.
