New opportunities forthcoming under Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement
The WAGO Office welcomes the granting of Royal Assent to the Trade (Australian and New Zealand) Act 2023, the primary enabling legislation to support the implementation of the Australia – United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement.
This is an important milestone for the UK’s domestic ratification processes for the agreement on the path towards entry into force.
There are some further steps within the UK’s domestic ratification process before the agreement can enter into force, but Western Australia, along with other jurisdictions and the Australian Government support the progress that is being made by the UK Government and look forward to the upcoming entry in force when all ratification processes are complete.
Once in force, the Free Trade Agreement will open up new commercial opportunities for Australian and UK businesses and will support increased mobility of people between Australia and the United Kingdom.
We look forward to supporting businesses maximising the significant opportunities made available through the forthcoming Free Trade Agreement and welcome engagement from any businesses seeking to leverage the opportunities that will be made available under the Free Trade Agreement.
