WAGO team in London participates in Resourcing Tomorrow 2024

Europe’s largest mining event, Resourcing Tomorrow 2024 took place from 3-5 December in London. This year’s event provided a valuable forum for thoughtful discussions, collaboration, and innovation across the mining and resources sector and this year 2091 people from 94 countries attended over the three-day event.
The event’s central theme, ‘Breaking Out of the Echo Chamber,’ emphasised the importance of moving beyond traditional boundaries to drive progress. Discussions in the event sessions focused on advancing the energy transition, achieving decarbonisation targets, reducing timelines from exploration to production, adopting new technologies, and addressing skills shortages.
This year’s program also highlighted the need for closer collaboration across the value chain, including midstream and downstream players such as OEMs and energy companies. Additionally, there was a clear focus on engaging with governments to move beyond robust national critical minerals policies to ensuring that these policies have meaningful local stakeholder support.
Western Australia was the only Australian state represented at this event, and participation by our London office was in support of an Australia Minerals stand, jointly funded by DEMIRS and Geoscience Australia.
Agent-General Angela Kelly led the WAGO London team participation, supported by David Burrows and Carolyn Gallop. David and Carolyn also participated in the Critical Minerals Association (CMA) 4th Annual Conference on Monday the 2nd of December, including participating in a round table on Critical Minerals in Australia, held as a side event.
DEMIRS was represented by Michael Emond and Simon Johnson who together with Geoscience Australia delivered a world class stand. Michael represented Western Australia on the Keynote Panel: “Should the mining industry be vertically integrating more? Fostering resilient and responsible collaboration between mining companies and the midstream and downstream to build resilient critical mineral supply chains” Michael also presented at a Government Round Table, organised as a side event on 2 December and then travelled to Brussels with Simon Johnson to attend EU Raw Materials week.
The London team is currently following up with WA companies and partner organisations and investors that we met with during the event and working with AusIMM to support them with their planned Australian Mining Week 2025 program to take place in London later this year.
