WA leads the way at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona
Dominating the Australian presence at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona in April 2024, five premium Western Australian seafood producers represented their outstanding product on the global stage.
The producers represented on the Australian stand were; Abrolhos Octopus, Far West Scallops, Fremantle Octopus and Geraldton Fisherman’s Cooperative. Austral had an impressive standalone presence in celebration of 10 years of the Glacier 51 product.
Western Australia’s seafood has long been recognised internationally for its high quality, sustainably sourced product, and it was no surprise that there was significant interest across all companies on the stand, who were able to showcase their products to interested buyers and distributors, with the assistance of the on-stand chef who did a stellar job in curating dishes that showed the very best of the product on offer.
Agent General, John Langoulant AO hosted an evening reception on the stand to welcome interested partners and prospective distributors and customers to the stand to meet with the companies, WA Government and Austrade representatives. Guests were treated to an array of Western Australian seafood produce coupled with Western Australian wine.
Trade shows provide an important role in showcasing and connecting with key providers, and the Western Australian Government Offices in London and Frankfurt look forward to continuing to support our producers navigate their export journey to access and enhance their market presence within the European region.
The trade shows also provide meaningful insights on key industry developments, and representatives from the WA Government Offices in Europe had the opportunity to join Western Australian producers at the annual MSC industry update, where traceability across the supply and sustainability in a changing climate were key themes discussed. The Western Australian Government Offices in Europe are looking forward to seeing our Western Australian produce increasingly entering the markets across the European region.
