Team WA shows the world what makes Western Australia a global energy hub

The Government of Western Australia’s London office (WAGO), together with NERA (National Energy Resources Australia), led a major collaborative effort at ‘Offshore Europe 2019’ in Aberdeen to deliver a high-profile exhibition pavilion stand that showcased the state of Western Australia and its global status as a leading energy hub.

The Challenge

The challenge was how major energy operators, other private sector participants, research institutions and universities, local and state governments and NERA – Australia’s Industry Growth Centre for energy resources – could work together to promote to the North Sea and Europe that Western Australia is open for business and home to world-leading capabilities.

The Outcome

WAGO and NERA collaboratively coordinated a “Team WA” stand to provide a launch pad for West Australian representatives from industry, academia and government to connect with industry leaders from around the world to position the Western Australia as a global LNG hub and destination of choice for foreign investment and trade, particularly throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The ‘Team WA’ stand at ‘Offshore Europe 2019’ was a hub for Australian innovators, operators, travelling businesses and delegates to engage with some 30,000 event attendees who came to discover what makes Western Australia a global energy hub.

WAGO and NERA joined fellow stand partners, including members of the WA Premier’s LNG Taskforce participants – Shell, Woodside, Inpex and Chevron — as well as the Australian Marine Complex, Curtin University, Australasian Oil and Gas Conference (AOG), and the City of Perth, with all organisations contributing to a multifaceted showcase of the State’s capacities and capabilities as a centre for research excellence, technology development and envious standards of living.

Miranda Taylor, CEO of NERA, said the success of the ‘Team WA’ showcase at Offshore Europe 2019 demonstrates the enormous multiplier effects that can be achieved by connecting Australian energy innovators with global supply chain opportunities.

“Australia is home to some leading technologies and solutions and, through partnerships like this, we can share and promote these industry solutions direct to decision makers across the world and make their growth stories happen” said Miranda Taylor, CEO of NERA.
